BedrockNews is a news publication that takes reporting from licensed sources — The Guardian, arXiv, Al Jazeera, NASA and others — and runs every article through an AI editorial layer that strips sensationalism, tribal framing and emotional manipulation while preserving every fact, then adds structural analysis of who benefits, who pays, and what happens if the pattern continues. The original source is one click away on every story.
GRIN is the framework BedrockNews uses to analyse news events. It asks one question of every event: does it create new value, or move existing value from some people to others? It scores four strengths (Generativity, Resilience, Efficiency, Novelty) and one warning sign (how extractive it is).
BedrockNews's Plumb is a 0–100 score for whether a news event creates value or extracts it. Higher means more generative. Example: the 2026 Physics Nobel for the IceCube neutrino detector scored Generativity 5, Resilience 4, Efficiency 4, Novelty 5, and Extractive 0. Extractive is flipped (0 becomes 5), the five are averaged (4.6) and scaled to 100: Plumb 92. 65 or above with low extraction reads Generative; 35 or below, or a high Extractive score, reads Extractive; most real events land in between, as Mixed. It rates the structure of what happened, not its politics. Research and culture stories get a Plumb too, from their own frameworks (CLAIMS and NOVEL).
Yes. BedrockNews is free to read, and it runs no ads, no SEO games and no engagement bait. It is funded out of pocket today and publishes its actual running costs openly, month by month, on its /costs page. Supporter contributions and a possible paid tier in 2027 are the two routes to sustainability.
